Itinerary

Day 1Arrival - Colombo Sightseeing

After your breakfast, you will be cruising on a sightseeing tour of Colombo. You will drive through the commercial and city center area“Fort”, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. A highlight would be a visit to the bustling and colorful markets and bazaars of Pettah, the National Museum with its fine collection of lovely antiques. You will be driving past Town Hall and Independence Square. Following the city tour of Colombo.

Day 2Kandy

En route to Kandy visits the Pinnwala Elephant Orphanage which is approx. 55 miles away from Colombo on the Colombo-Kandy Road.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is not a zoo, but something bigger and more interesting. It is a breeding ground for Asian elephants who are left abandoned due to unforeseeable circumstances.
Reconnect with nature and wildlife as you witness the way elephants are treated and cared for, the elephants being fed milk, their bathing routine, and their interaction with each other.

Upon reaching your hotel in Kandy, relish the hospitable treatment you receive and complete your check-in formalities before proceeding to your room.
In the evening, catch a panoramic view of the picturesque town from upper lake drive.
Visit a Kandyan Dance performance and be treated to a spectacular fire walking finale.
Return back to your hotel, enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 3Sigiriya

Wake up in the morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast and get ready for an adventurous day ahead.
Head out towards the Sigiriya Rock Fortress to admire the captivating beauty and magnificence of this ancient site. Upon arrival at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, climb those rocky steps and narrow metal staircases in the blazing sun.
Once you reach the top, witness the breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding hills, forests, pastures, lakes, and monuments of Sigiriya from a birds-ey angle and realize that your efforts of climbing were totally worth it. Spend some time at this massive Sigiriya Rock deep in the middle of Sri Lanka that juts out from the green tropical forest.

Climb downwards and head back to your hotel in Dambulla collecting beautiful memories from the top of Sigiriya.
Enjoy a mouth-watering dinner and an overnight stay in Dambulla.

Day 4Dambulla - Polonnaruwa

 The Cave Temple of Dambulla is a world heritage. This Religious, Historic, and scenic location has been visited by thousands of local and foreign devotees and travelers all over the year. There is a scenic and picturesque view of the top of the temple. Many Buddha statues can be seen and the environment is really cold with fresh air. Travelers should wear a suitable dress before entering the location. There are a lot of steps to climb from the bottom of the temple. you can see the Sigiriya Rock in a distance while you on the location. 

The Polonnaruwa Vatadage is an ancient structure dating back to the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa of Sri Lanka. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Parakramabahu I to hold the Relic of the tooth of the Buddha or during the reign of Nissanka Malla of Polonnaruwa to hold the alms bowl used by the Buddha.

The Gal Vihara, also known as Gal Viharaya and originally as the Uttararama, is a rock temple of the Buddha situated in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. It was fashioned in the 12th century by Parakramabahu I.

 

Day 5Anuradhapura

Proceed to Anuradhapura. On arrival in Anuradhapura, check in at the hotel. Later, you can visit Sri Maha Bodhi (Sacred Bo-Tree). Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple is the center of tourist attraction in Anuradhapura. Buddhists from all over the world visit this place because it enshrines the great souvenir of the past and pride of the present, the sacred Bodhi tree. This is the sapling of the original Peepal Tree at Buddha Gaya, India in whose shelter Gautama Buddha attained supreme enlightenment. As per history, the sapling was brought to Sri Lanka by Buddhist nun Sanghamitra, the daughter of Emperor Asoka of India during the 3rd Century BC. In 288 BC, it was planted by King Devanampiya Tissa in Mahamewna Park in Anuradhapura.
